One-pot rice: Chicken

Sweat: 1%
Sweet: 99%

We are only human. There are these days when you are really lazy to cook a meal yet you want something comforting to keep you warm in this cold weather (not building links to any alcoholic products LOL). If this lazy-cooking day greets you, welcome it. Because you are not going to let it defeat you! HA! In this blog-post and most probably the next one, I will be showing you a super easy almost effortless one-pot rice. I guess the name has explained it all, basically you just have to throw everything in the pot, or in my case, the rice cooker, and let it do the magic.

Tissue roses

Sweat: 1%
Sweet: 99%

Hi everyone! It has been a while! I have loads of food-related blogpost to do after this one because I have been cooking (OBVIOUSLY!). I promise I will upload more often! Anyways, few days ago, a BIG AND TALL Christmas tree was delivered to my flat. I was shocked because I was not expecting it. It was a surprise from my boyfriend. Since I had not done any Christmas decor shopping this year, I had nothing to decorate my tree but let it sit naked in my living room. OH, wait! I did have one BIG Christmas ornament that I picked up from Paperchase a couple of years ago so I excitedly put it on. But that was it. I did not want to spend money on decorations this year because I had already spent WAY TOO MUCH money on Christmas presents and presents for my boyfriend's 30th birthday (not until next January). Having said that, I thought it would be too sad to see my LONELY AND ALMOST NAKED tree greeting me on Christmas day. At that very moment, I came across a DIY Rose Decor Lamp and Lantern video on YouTube and bang! I knew what I could do - some handmade tissue roses on my tree perhaps? Oh yeah baby!

12.12.12

HAPPY 12.12.12 - the last repetitive date in my life. Of course if I am bitten by a vampire (has to be Edward or Carlisle) I will get to celebrate countless repetitive day! HA! Anyhoo, friends and I decided to gather for this big day. for dinner and because the weather is BLOODY FREEZING we believed that hot pot would be the best choice. On the way to food shop, I forced my friend to go and get this bunny-look-onesie that I had been eyeing. How cute is that!?!

Eighth to Eleventh day of December

So...I am late for the daily update of 'what-is-behind-the-door-of-the-lovely-advent-calendar', again! Instead of doing them separately, I will just do them in one go, eighth to eleventh day of December.

On the 8th day of December, Ciate brought me a super duper lovely deep grey nail paint called 'Vintage'. I absolutely adore it. In fact, I have (almost) the same colour by BarryM. I like this one by Ciate more because the colour is so rich and pigmented which means you will have an even coverage with only one coat.

Matcha biscotti

Sweat: 1%
Sweet: 99%

I never really gave a thought as to how easy or hard it would be to bake biscotti, albeit a great fan. When I finally came round to doing it (yes, I keep a list of things I want to bake/cook), I realised that they were incredibly easy to bake. I only spent about five minute (or perhaps less) to whip up everything before putting them in the oven. So if you want some home-bake biscotti and if you have five minutes to spare, try the recipe below. The matcha bug was floating in my blood again (as if it had never stopped!) so I added some matcha powder to my biscotti, you know, sort of Japanised them. Enjoy!

Fifth, sixth and seventh day of December

Sorry I have not been updating for the past few days. I have been busy doing Christmas shopping, writing Christmas cards (my favourite thing to do), wrapping up presents and getting them sent out before last Christmas posting date. All sorted now! In this post, I will be revealing three bottles behind door five to seven altogether. So keep reading if you are interested.

Fourth day of December

VoilĂ . First bottle of caviar pearls revealed itself behind door four. Did not expect to get these little beads so soon. This 'Prom Queen' is basically a blend of dark blue, pink and silver beads. My favourite bottle of paint so far. Ah- do not bite my finger! I know it is looking yummy! Hehehe

Third day of December

My high-school friend said she saw snow in Edinburgh. So last night I prayed for snow. My prayer was answered in a different way. Instead of getting real snow flakes falling from the sky, I found a snowy and glimmery bottle of paint behind the third door of my advent calendar. It was so pretty. I love anything shinny and glittering. Happy days!

Earl grey macarons

VoilĂ , my very first batch of macarons. I am more than thrilled that they turn out so well (at least to me). For an amateur, I know I should have gone for the plain ones but I always walk a mile further so I end up baking some earl grey macarons. The recipe I used was from YOO EATZ. Instructions were very clear so these babies were pretty easy to pull together, albeit my skills have yet to be mastered. If you are interested in baking them, I highly recommend reading this article on macaron myths.

Second day of December

Just a quick update on my advent calendar adventure. "Dangerous Affair" was behind the little NO.2 door. It was dark blood red. A very Christmassy colour. This red is not very 'ME' I have to say. Do not get it wrong. I do love red. But this bottle of "Dangerous Affair" is just a little too dark of a red for me, if that makes any sense? LOL

Studded denim shorts

I love studs, especially my ass-kicking loafers (spike studded) that I bought from ROMWE sometime earlier this year (or last year?). I decided to stud my converse shoes. In search of studs, I went onto various websites and found EBay was probably the best place to get cheap studs. Seeing myself as a beginner, I dare to place a big order although I was SO desperate to stud my shoes, pants, shirts, etc. In the end I only bought a pack of 100 pyramid studs (8mm) and scrapped my original plan of studding my converse shoes. I did my denim shorts instead because I felt the pyramid studs looked better on pants.

First day of December

December has officially arrived hence the countdown to Christmas begins. YEY! I have just excitedly opened the first door of the advent calendar that I bought recently and bang! CUPCAKE QUEEN's sitting inside. Absolutely adore this colour! Although the weather is really crap outside, knowing that behind each little door lies a colourful surprise has suddenly lightened up my day. Have you opened the very first door of your advent calendar yet? Hope you are enjoying whatever it is behind the door too! HAPPY FIRST DAY OF DECEMBER ^O^
